Effect of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Creep Behavior of Fe-40Ni-24Cr Alloy

Iron-nickel-chromium (Fe-Ni-Cr) alloy Haynes HR120 is an iron-nickel-based superalloy, which extensively used in gas turbines. Hence, the materials for fabrication of steam turbine blades should present great mechanical characteristics and creep properties. In this study, Fe-40Ni-24Cr was heat-treated at temperatures from 950 to 1250 °C. High temperature behavior microstructure evolution selected (1050 °C, 1200 1225 °C °C) were assessed 800 900 under 100 MPa stress. The consisted titanium niobium rich precipitates, namely NbC, (Nb,Ti)C, TiN Ti(C,N) distributed matrix grain boundaries, enhance properties alloy. hardness decreased with increasing size. strain increased escalation time being constant applied shows a decrease steady-state rate increase size 62 μm 183 due boundary sliding mechanism 312 occurrence dislocation climb.
